Based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s 1911 novel of the same name, The Secret Garden tells the story of Mary Lennox, a young girl who has lost her parents to a cholera epidemic in India and is brought to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven. Archibald is also in a state of mourning after losing his young wife, Lily, and has largely shut himself away from the world. Both are haunted by ghosts from the past, and Mary eventually explores the world outdoors to discover a hidden, locked garden. As she brings the garden back to life, she unleashes a spirit of rebirth.
