Rhinebeck Theatre Society presents The Prom, an inclusive, boundary-challenging, thought-provoking, incredibly timely, contemporary musical comedy. Music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Bob Martin and Beguelin, based on an original concept by Jack Viertel.
Directed by Rena Gavigan, with Assistant Direction by Lisa Delia, Musical Direction by Paul & JoAnne Schubert, and Choreography by Maria Coppola.
When the PTA from Edgewater, Indiana cancels the senior prom in order to block a lesbian student from bringing her date, four New York stars in search of a cause swoop in to save the day. A new musical comedy “so filled with happiness that you think your heart is about to burst” (Variety).
The Rhinebeck Theatre Society production features Mary Kate Barnett (Emma), Rhiannon McCaffrey (Alyssa), Robb Fessler (Barry), Katie Luekens Chan Chee (Dee Dee), Ryan Hontz (Trent), Erin Hebert (Angie), David Foster (Mr. Hawkins), Kiara Daniello (Mrs. Greene), Mike Clark (Sheldon) with Cassandra Acosta, Abby Anspach, Maggie Bogan, Patricia Coté, Margaux Ilyse Epter, Judas Foster, Sean Foster, Becca Frank, Kai Gajdos, Olivia Hoben, Jabez Jackson, Audra James, Luis Jordan, Mary Krembs, Raheem KD Lee, Gerard Lisella, Amelia Looft, Gillian Lopez, James McTague, and Jane Petruncola.
